Week 16

ok.... this week we celebrated X-mas with the Moore family (Kevin's family).... more pics and info to come....

Week 15 (Merry, Merry)

Hello Family and Friends... this is a little late but we wanted to post/update our blog for last week when Olivia turned 15 weeks.... so more this week for week 16 in a day or so.....

Well, as you can see our little bundle of love is growing and getting cuter (well, of course we are partial) by the second. Last week we ventured to Burrel to see the Rollin Family (Emma's family). Although Olivia is the 10th grandchild on the Rollin side, she was still quit a hit. Below are some pics for you to enjoy! All in all we had a blast celebrating Olivia's first Christmas. Although she really was too young to know/understand the entire meaning of Christmas, it was wonderful to start the tradition with her. Wishing you all a happy holidays!

Love, Kevin, Emma, Olivia and Astro :)

Week 14

Hello dear family and friends!

A lot to report this week! Olivia survived her first set of shots (end of last week), went on her second road trip (Los Angeles.... yeah, she loved Santa Monica, especially X-mas shopping on 3rd street), attended two X-mas parties (she is a social butterfly), picked out an X-mas tree and went X-mas shopping with her mama (we are training her at an early age.... :)). Right now she pretty much still eats a lot and is active during the day and does cat naps here and there but does not like the sleep thing too much during the day, however, she has been sleeping more at night (THANK YOU OLIVIA!). To harness some of her energy Emma has put her yoga expertise to use and has started a mama/papa & baby yoga class at the Santa Barbara Yoga Center for moms (and dads interested) and their little one(s).... ok AND for us! We keep forgetting to take pictures but will try to remember to do so in the new year as it is so much fun to see all the yoginis together! AND, Olivia loves it! She smiles and is a model yogini already!

Well, I am sure there will be lots of X-mas pics in the coming week. We are headed to Burrel (Emma's family) next Tuesday evening! Wishing you all a magical holiday season filled with peace and happiness!

Blessings, Emma, Kevin, Olivia and Astro

Week 13

Hello Family and Friends!

This week Olivia celebrated her 3 month birthday! Wow, can you believe our little Olive is 3 months and 10 pounds (we just had her weigh-in at the doctors office this week!!?! As you can see in her pics this week she is filling out nicely, smiling, and developing a very social personality!

To help her with her social nature, this week she has already been to two holiday events and Saturday will have one more. So far, each event Olivia has found delight in the holiday atmosphere and the people (our friends)! So much fun.

On the not so fun side, Olivia had her first round of shots. Although at the doctor's office she did not even cry when she was administered the shot, we had a rough day later on. I usually pride myself in the natural route - but all I can say is thank GOD for children's tylenol! All in all, I am glad that is done! At least for another two months!

On the development front, Olivia puts EVERYTHING in her mouth - yay germs - and now rolling from side to side. We have discovered her to be a cheerful morning person and can't wait for her to wake up and smile at us!

So, as you can see, we are getting the hang of this parenting thing! We love Olivia and being parents. On the husband and wife front, we are looking forward to a weekend in LA this weekend for Kevin's work party. Yes,Olivia is coming to, but we are looking forward to getting away and spending time together. Until next blog!

Blessings, Emma, Kevin, Olivia and Astro :)

Week 12

Hello Family and Friends,

Ok, although a week late, we are posting pictures of Olivia at 12 weeks. Last week she had quite an eventful week! She experienced her first holiday party (hosted by Jenny and Tyler Rameson), experienced carolers and holiday cheer at the La Arcada Christmas event (and 1st Thursday) in downtown SB, attended church for the first time as well as our friend, Sarah Hock's baby shower. WHEW! So we are just going to post a pic of her at La Arcada (above) and a pic of daddy holding her this past week!

Enjoy!

We are thankful!

This past week we celebrated Thanksgiving. As I wrote in our last blog entry, we have much to be thankful for. Although the nightly news is grim these days as our economy and world affairs seem topsy turvy, it is easy to get lost and fail to find the good in things. Thus, I am just offering a quote today in honor of our family and friends and well ... life!

The most important things in life are your friends, family, health, good humor and a positive attitude towards life. If you have these then you have everything! - Author Unknown

Until next blog, many blessings,

Emma, Kevin, Olivia and Astro :)

PS Olivia turned 12 weeks on Monday! More pics to come....

Week 11

We started our week off with a little cooler weather and a visit from Aunt Christy (Kevin's sister). Although Christy has helped out a lot with Olivia - thanks Christy - we realized we never really got a picture of the two of them! As you can see they are already pals! :)

This week Olivia is experiencing a lot of "firsts"! First rain (hence the prep with her teddy bear hoody), first Thanksgiving and first real cold weather (for SB). We are enjoying every minute of our bundle of love and you can bet that this Thanksgiving we have much to be thankful!

Til next blog!

Blessings, Emma, Kevin, Olivia and Astro

Week 10

Hello Family and Friends!!!!

This week Olivia is 2 months and 2 weeks old or what is known as 10 weeks! We are having a blast with her as she develops more of her active, demanding and fun-natured personality! We have enjoyed our visitors too! This past Saturday Olivia got to meet her cousins on the Rollin side for the first time! So below you will see pics of Emma's brother Donny, his wife Christina and their 4 beautiful kids: Tristan, Noah, Laila and Siena. Also, Olivia also got to hang out with Grandma Carol (Emma's mom) this week! Pappa (Emma's father) was also in SB, but the pics below are with Olivia and Grandma Carol. Lastly, the first set of pics are with Olivia and Emma. As you can see, Olivia is enjoying her inactive nature and is already a communicator.....

We are enjoying every minute of parenthood! And we hope you enjoy our updates too! Until next blog!!!!

Week 9

Hello All,

This week Olivia turns 9! Weeks that is... check out her new fashion statement. Her hat was provided by our dear friend Devon who we visited last week. Thanks Devon! Olivia loves her new hat!

Well, this week we are proud to announce that our little bundle of love is now officially a heavy weight weighing in at 8 pounds exactly :) She has also been smiling up a storm and cooing and gazing all around. Our doctor calls her mighty might because at 9 weeks she can almost hold her head up and when she is not eating she is alert trying to be in the know of things. We are getting outside more these days as we even went for our first hike on Tuesday! Olivia loved the trail and even was interested at gazing all around on our way down the mountain.

Until next blog!

We are so blessed!

Week 8

Hello Family and Friends!

This week we have lots of fun photos to share! Last Friday, our little girl celebrated halloween in style with her lady bug or "love bug" outfit. She also went to the pumpkin patch last week with her mama :) This week, she had the opportunity to experience politics first hand as she went to the voter booth with mama! As you can see she got to sport the "I Voted" sticker and was jazzed about that!

Olivia, mama, dad and Astro are doing well and are enjoying every minute of familyhood! Til next post!

Blessings and namaste,

The Moore Family

Week 7

Fast forward to week 7 with Olivia, things have been a little busy and we've neglected the blog.
Check out the video for first smiles.

Week 4

wow! one month come and gone...
where do the days go?
Olivia had a busy week, a trip to the doctor, grandma in town to help out and dad back to work full time.

Everyone is doing well except for astro. He broke out of the backyard twice last week, fortunately he didn't make it to far and was found next door sniffing the garbage. I think he is feeling a little ignored and is looking for some attention.

Week 2

Olivia has been with us for 2 weeks now! We learn more about her everyday.
Emma and Olivia are doing well and I am hoping will continue to spread their wings and get outside more often for walks.
Astro has also joined us after returning from vacation at grandma and grandpa Moore's house. Astro is very interested in Olivia and all of the little sounds she makes drives him crazy, you can see him thinking "let me at that kid, i just need to get in a few licks then everything will be ok!" He is slowly getting more used to the new family member in the house and I am sure in a few weeks we will be one happy family.

Hiccups!

Week One!

Olivia's first week has come and gone so quickly. We've been fortunate to have many visitors as well as a great group of friends and family who have been delivering dinners to us nightly. The Rollin clan made the first of many trips down to Santa Barbara and brought along aunt Pat and uncle Jim, I don't think Olivia spent even a moment out of someone's arms, she was a very happy baby. Emma was able to get outside for the first time and we went a short walk with Delia and her 2mo. old son Braedan.

Week 39

Hello dearest family and friends.

This week we are 39! That means that "Olive" is still growing and preparing for entrance into our world. Like we mentioned last week, at this point, the average baby weight can vary.... so we will keep you guessing or betting :) on how much she will weigh when she arrives.

As you can see, Emma is getting bigger by the moment but still we are just 30-40% effaced and waiting for "Olive" to drop and for dialation to occur. We are very excited to meet "Olive" and are just finishing our final "to do's" together before she arrives. At this point, we have picked a pediatrician, Dr. Margot Roseman -yeah- which happens to be a pediatrician in the same office that Kevin went to when he was a boy here in SB. :)

On the Astro front, we are proud to report that he did get his stitches out on Friday of last week and is doing great now!

So in a nutshell, just keep us in your thoughts and prayers and we will keep you posted.

Alas, we are truly blessed. Emma, Kevin, "Olive" and Astro

38 weeks and counting

Hello Family and Friends!

This week, Wednesday, August 27th we turned 38 weeks! Wow.... well, give or take. According to our OB/GYN we are measuring about 37ish when we are turning 38 weeks but Emma is definitely feeling more of the signs of preparation (cramping, pelvic pressure, the lovely waddle..... and is 30-40% effaced and counting because they did not check for dialation this week) - lucky Emma - so essentially when we went to our doc's appointment on Wednesday she said little "Olive" could come between now and 3 weeks. :) Or more... you know how it goes.....

So what does that mean for us?
Well, we are pretty ready (as ready as we will ever be) and excited to meet our little girl. We have met with our Doula, Sarah Skoberg for the last time before we go into labor and we both agree that we have the world's nicest and knowledable Doula and know she will be an invaluable support tool for us and "Olive's" journey into this world. Emma has started acupuncture each week at Points of Health with Stacy Smith until "Olive" arrives to help prepare the body a little more for the birth process or if she is past due to help induce labor if the time arrives. Kevin has been reading the last tips from "Be Prepared: A Practical Handbook for New Dads" by Gary Greenberg and Jeannie Hayden. Together we have been reading birth stories every now and then from "Ina May's Guide to Natural Childbirth" by Ina May Gaskin, which has also proven to be a valuable tool to help us prepare for the big day as each birth story that we read is different and demonstrates the nature of birth being different for everyone.

Oh... an update on "Olive's" growth, according to the records (www.babycenter.com), she is just plumping up more and more now! Because weight is different for every child we are now going to leave you guessing or betting on how much our little bundle of joy will be when she arrives! Still, what we do know is that inside the womb, she has a firm grasp, which we'll soon be able to test when we hold her hand for the first time! Her organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb. YIPPEEEEE!!!

Other than that, Astro gets his stitches out today - HURRAY and is still on the mend - no pun intended. Kevin is still architecting... Emma is still yogaing and teaching as an adjunct at SBCC, Astro is still recovering from his mishaps last week and "Olive" is still growing!

Until next blog, we are truly blessed! Thanks for reading our journey.

Love and namaste, Emma, Kevin, "Olive" and Astro
